Day 165 ~ Doors

A prompt from one of my fellow Wading In members is DOORS.  This is a door in the downtown of a small city a couple miles from my house. They are on a vacant store front building - all weathered, but still beautiful.  I have driven by it several times when taking my son to his friend's house.  I just LOVE the curves of the glass and the jewel-like green color.

So, I finally got a chance to do a self portrait in front of it.  I didn't realize until I was home that you could see the reflection of the church so well (after a little adjustment to the exposure).

Green Doors

I will definitely be returning for more photos with the beautiful door!  A very "happy accident" indeed!

Day 154 ~ Drawing Table

Taking a few photos that represented by home for a Flickr group that we've kept going from Wading In workshop.  It's been awesome that the group has continued after the workshop ended.  The connection that you can make with people you've never meet from all over the world by observing the photos they posts and the words they use to describe them has been amazing to me...and a true pleasure!

This photo is of my drawing table - it's a mess and doesn't get used much for drawing these day, but does collect  piles of my art supplies, books and art work.  Even being a mess, it makes me happy.

Art & Books

In the past few months, well, more like since the beginning of the year, it seems taking photos has totally been addicting and taken over as the art form that I'm doing the most.  I have a feeling somehow I will make these art forms I love all fit together.

I plan to sign up for 21 Secrets this week - SUPER excited - which will get me back to more painting & mixed media techniques.  Then I really want to experiment in combining my photos & painting.

Hello muse...do you hear me??!!!

Day 92 ~ Purpose of Art

I had such an amazing time in Vivienne McMaster's Wading In e-course...just fabulous!  She provided the inspiration to delve further into exploring ourselves and our creative expression.  She prompted us to notice our thoughts, everyday things we love and what inspires us then share it in picture form.  I felt a nudging to take this course and almost ignored it - almost - just think what I would have missed!

It was inspiring to see the photographs taken by the others in the course spanning all over the world.  We were offered glimpses into each others' lives, loves and thoughts. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share in these wonderful people's lives.  It pushed me to think "out of the box" and expand my creativity!

This is a photo I created from two photographs I took and layered - then adding an art quote I love...

Purpose of Art

This is just the beginning of my journey in this art medium - exploring and combining my inner & outer worlds. This is just the beginning of finding my voice...

Thanks, Vivienne...and my fellow Wading In explorers - YOU ROCK!

Wishcasting Wednesday

It’s that time – Wishcasting Wednesday – by Jamie Ridler.  Today’s question is…
What do you wish to focus on?
As always, the question is so appropriate for what is going on in my life!  I just started a self-portraiture workshop last week called Wading In by Vivienne McMaster.  In just a week’s time, I have been SO inspired by the others in the workshop!  I have began looking at how to tell a story about me & my life thru pictures from a whole new perspective.  I am thoroughly LOVING it!

A little story about serendipity…

I signed up for Jamie’s Sparkles workshop and in it you are asked to take a photograph of yourself.  Well, let’s just say it took me WAY longer than it should have to get a shot of myself that met my approval!!  I actually posted on my blog that day how I would love to find a self-portraiture workshop.  Seriously, no sooner had I put that out there did I somehow stumble upon Vivienne.  Serendipity.  I took it as a sign from above shouting yes to me!  I can not wait to see what is left to discover in this adventure!!

Here’s is one photo of mine from the workshop…

Radiance

My wish...

I wish to focus on exploring – exploring who I am, what I love…and expressing it!

Whether I express myself thru photography, drawing, painting – it doesn’t matter – as long as I am doing what I love and expanding my creativity.

I know connecting with all of you who are reading this now and others thru workshops has been so very inspiring and encouraging.  Thank you.

What do you wish to focus on?  Wish here.

As you wish for yourself, so I wish for you!

Day 70 ~ April Showers

Another rainy April day...

My Grandma Marge was always full of sayings about the weather & this was one of them!  I miss her.

Day 65 ~ Wading In

I am so excited to say that this week I started Vivienne McMaster's workshop called Wading In, which is a journey into self-portraiture.  A few weeks ago, when I started the Sparkles course, I posted that since I'm not comfortable with pictures of myself that I needed to find a self portraiture course.  And, lo & behold...right after that comment - I somehow found Vivienne.  I heart serendipity!

I am just loving checking out all the photos that this group of creative people are posting.  I think it's what I love most about taking a workshop...all the new ways you learn to "think out of the box".

Here's one of my pics from the first week...
