that was her magic
she could still see the sunset,

106::108 magic

I had the most divinely magical thing happen while painting yesterday.
My oldest son wanted me to do a painting for him - the eye of Horus.
I started putting layers of paint on the canvas as I always do.
After about the third layer, I saw my son in the painting.

I text it to him and he told me that he was wearing
a white Detroit Tigers hat with a D...
just like his figure in the layers.

In awe.

12:::108 magic

...inviting magic in ...

a mini tea cup from my grandmother.
i loved how the light seemed to reach for the cup
and the shape of the light from the window
reminded me of wings.

{...grandmothers...} 30:30

:::honoring my Grandmothers today:::

A photo of my Grandma Marge and me
along with a tiny tea cup of hers
that I adored growing up.

Lockets from my Great-Grandmother, Louise,
whom I never met.  I received these lockets
after my Grandma Marge passed.

A brooch from my Grandma Millie.
She was a school teacher and raised
seven! children on her own.

A hymnal from my Great-Grandma Mae
that I loved and she gave me in 1973.
She was a lefty like me.

Today, when the barrier between the worlds
 is whisper-thin and when magic, old magic,
sings its heady and sweet song to anyone who cares to hear it.

{...rumi magic...} 16:30

:::a foggy morning on my way to work:::
& words I need to hear
as yesterday was challenging.

It was a breakfast for dinner kind of day
along with a 7/7 for good measure.
A unique combination,
but required.

Reminding myself...
the magic is in knowing
to never give up.

{...full moon...} 8:30

 Oh, the moon!
She certainly displayed her magic this week.

Being an artist, I look for shapes and figures in my paintings,
as I was looking at the photo of the moon in the clouds,
I could see the profile of a face.
Someone else saw a heart.
What is it showing you?

In awe of the lunar eclipse, sitting in the dark witnessing
the shadow of the sun slowly covering the bright light of the moon.

And, for the last hurrah, she was still gracing the autumn sky this morning.

{...rain drops...} 6:30

It began down pouring just as I was leaving work.  Perfect timing.
The sky was dark except for a streak of sunshine right at the horizon.

Every time there is light & rain, I instantly look for a rainbow
and I was not disappointed today as one appeared on my drive home
but faded before I had a chance for a photo.

So, I resorted to another little love of mine... the rings the rain drops make in a puddle
and a huge puddle always forms at the end of our driveway during a storm.

I'm sure my neighbors have given up counting how many times they've seen me
taking photos of my feet around my yard.

{...creativity...} 5:30

:::first layer of a new canvas:::

"The canvas, which is to say the unconscious,
considers the painter's first stroke,
and then it tells the painter's hand
how to respond to it -
with a shape of a certain color & texture
at that point there.
And then, if all is going well,
the canvas ponders this addition
and comes up with further recommendations.
The canvas become a ouija board."

{...yes, magic...} 1:30

Today's magic was my camera blurring
while taking a pic of the sunrise.
I love how the trees have no definition
and it's all left to your imagination.

{...embrace magic...}

:::My October Intention:::

 I love Autumn...it is such a beautiful time of year with the leaves changing colors (if only we could shorten winter) so I intend to watch for all the magic surrounding me...in nature & in my life.

“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes
the whole world around you
because the greatest secrets
are always hidden
in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic
will never find it.”
