What do you wish for your home?I consider my home a true miracle – a gift directly from God! At the time I bought my home, I was a single Mom of three young boys living on just my salary alone – no child support. I would drive thru subdivisions on my lunch hour looking at houses. I saw my house one day with a ‘for sale by owner’ sign in the yard and called. It was more than I could afford. Months went by and winter passed, I drove by again. It looked vacant and the sign had fallen under the snow. Mirace#1 – I remembered the phone number even though it had been months since I first called. This time I set an appointment to see the house. Without going into all the details, the man selling the house knew people that I knew and the deal came together to my total amazement. He even let me move my things in before the actual closing since I had to move out of my townhouse before the closing was scheduled.
I love to decorate and this house was full of potential – and full of walls covered in “old lady” wallpaper. I returned to school since and obtained my degree in Residential Design. I love color – and every room in my home is now a different color – deep, warm colors. One of the favorite things in my house is the doorway in the kitchen where we have marked the heights of the boys each year. If I ever move, this has to come with me!!! I have hung my artwork and the boys' artwork along with other memories throughout our home. I have "I love you Mom" papers on my fridge that the boys made for me when they were younger and I will treasure forever. I have enjoyed, more than words can say, making my home a reflection of me and my family…and welcoming to all.
We have now lived in our home for 8 years – it will be 9 years in July 2011. My boys are now teenagers...my oldest will move from teenager into his 20's next month (*gasp*), my middle son graduates high school this year and the third, a freshman. Our home has seen many, many kids in & out, lots & lots of sleep overs, many dinners with family & friends and several parties. It has been a haven and a blessing for my family and I could not be more grateful!
My wish for my home is to be a place of comfort & love – for all who enter to feel the love and to feel at home in my home. A place for many, many more good memories.
If you couldn't tell, I love, love, love my home! :-)
